ESG Commitments

Commited to ethical business practice

Certus Group recognises the social and ethical responsibilities of corporate businesses operating in our times. Our actions, systems and processes prove that we are not just paying lip service to ethical business practices. We have embedded them in everything we do because we know that this is what the future demands — and it’s the right thing to do.

Our main wholesale supplier, TRuWorkwear, is Australia’s first and only workwear supplier to be certified beyond Australian Standards by the international body SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit). TRuWorkear is also an industry leader as a signatory of the UN’s Global Compact in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a focus on anti-corruption, fair labour, the environment and human rights. This means that they meet key standards that represent milestones toward global prosperity, helping to protect workers in the supply chain from unsafe working conditions, overwork, discrimination, low pay and forced working conditions.

Our supply chain is primarily focused on SDGs related to the safety and prosperity of Australian communities, production partners, industry stakeholders, and the international community. We join global and local corporate entities with the same commitment to SDGs, coordinating efforts toward prosperity

We support both mental & physical health

Did you know…
There are more than 3,000 deaths by suicide each year in Australia. That’s an average of nine deaths per day and around 75% of those are men. Suicide rates are 80% higher for workers in the construction industry, who are six times more likely to die from suicide than a workplace incident.

We’re committed to doing our part to reduce these shocking statistics, which is why we’ve chosen to put our support behind MATES in Construction, Mining and Energy. MATES is a charity established in 2008 to reduce the high level of suicide among Australian construction workers, providing suicide prevention support through community development programs on sites and by supporting workers in need through case management and a 24/7 help line. The MATES program is based on the simple idea that suicide is everyone’s business.

As part of our commitment to the mental health of workers in our industry, Certus donates a portion of our profits to MATES to make a difference through awareness, training and intervention.

Certus Group is committed to sustainability and social responsibility by actively supporting and implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals in all levels of business.
